Abstract

The article discusses methodological approaches to the study of religiosity as a basis for studying and solving issues related to identifying the level of religious knowledge and the formation of religious literacy and tolerance.
The purpose of this article is to systematize scientific and theoretical approaches to the study of the designated problem, as well as to identify methodological problems associated with its study. The article substantiates the need to consider the problem of religious literacy and tolerance in the context of the transformation of the religious consciousness of modern youth. The identified causes of the religious renaissance in the culture of modernity emphasize the need for deeper research that would reveal the causes of the growth of religiosity. The authors have studied and presented the existing multidimensional and one-dimensional models of measuring religiosity, their possibilities and disadvantages, and also focuses on the need for a qualitative analysis of the identified problem.
It is noted that existing methods, as a rule, focus on quantitative analysis, leaving internal motivations and guidelines outside the study. The need to move to more comprehensive and qualitative methods of analysis that can reveal the essential aspects of religiosity, and therefore religious literacy and tolerance, is emphasized. This will not only improve the quality of scientific research, but also have a positive impact on solving urgent and promising problems of society’s development.
The importance of this topic requires further research aimed at creating integrative approaches that can take into account both quantitative and qualitative aspects of religiosity, which, in turn,
will contribute to the formation of a more tolerant and mutually understanding society.
