Abstract

The article, based on the scientific and educational views of  Professor A. Seydimbek  about the oral historiography of the Kazakhs and genealogy sources, shows the historical consciousness and features of the formation of  nomads. Oral historiography, characteristic for our people, is one of the important channels of historical cognition. One of the main features of our nation is the knowledge of Zheti Ata, originating from the ancient nomads.

Over the centuries, nomads were able to create their unique way of life, methods of economy adapted to the ecosystem, harmony between nature and man. Together with the economy, the ‘human capital’, energy and intelligence increased and strengthened.

According to the author, oral history, genealogy is a necessity generated by the existence of nomads, and the Zheti Ata genealogy is a mechanism of national defence of nomads, the only way to preserve traditions and customs, moral and ethical values that can consolidate our nation and form our national identity. As Professor Akseleu Seydimbek noted, Kazakh oral history, genealogy is a period of original history of our people. So we ourselves and the next generation should not look at it indifferently.
