The article analyzes the main theoretical approaches to the study of the concept of consolidated identity within the context of the interaction between the state and society. On this basis, a brief conceptual overview is presented regarding the history and specific nature of the formation of social consolidation in Kazakhstan during the period of independent development, furthermore, the conditions (prerequisites), key actors, available opportunities, and mechanisms for developing a model of consolidated identity within a transforming Kazakhstani society are identified.Existing theoretical and applied studies in the literature, that are related in one way or another to consolidated identity, demonstrate the existence of a range of approaches to the study of this phenomenon. In the context of the article’s subject matter, consolidated identity is viewed, on the one hand, as a flexible social construct shaped by power and, on the other, as a resource (tool) utilized by power to mobilize society in support of the country’s adopted development course.Drawing on these approaches, the definition and analysis of the concept of consolidated identity in this article are conducted within the framework of the interaction between power and society. In this context, the concept of consolidated identity policy is viewed not in terms of competitive political struggle between distinct groups, but rather as a type of policy pursued by state authorities vis-à-vis society in collaboration with civil society actors. In light of this, the conclusion is drawn that, when determining the prospects for developing a model of consolidated identity in Kazakhstan, it is advisable to leverage the country's accumulated potential for civic identity. This will enable civil society institutions to act as full-fledged partners of state bodies in implementing the policy of consolidated identity in the country.
