Abstract

 “What should be a scientist?”. The question is considered in this article. Kazakh ethical thought reveals the main features of personality of scientist. There was the unity of al-Farabi's “good character and strength of mind”, the subordination of intellect to heart according to Abai’s views, “higher morality” of Alikhan Bukeikhanov, science of conscience of Shakarim Kudaiberdiev. These concepts form moral character of scientist.  Abai’s concept “tolyq adam” is the ethical basis for formation of personality of scientist. It manifested in the personalities of Alash movement and their successor Kanysh Satbayev.
