Abstract

The article examines the scholarly and philosophical legacy of Academician Muzaffar Khairullaev and assesses his role in the development of Farabi studies and the history of philosophy in Uzbekistan. Particular attention is paid to Khairullaev’s research and interpretation of the philosophical heritage of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, as well as to his contribution to the formation of a national school of Eastern philosophy studies. The methodological framework combines historical-philosophical, hermeneutic, comparative-analytical, and systemic approaches, which make it possible to examine Khairullaev’s intellectual legacy in the context of the interaction between Eastern and Western philosophical traditions. The article demonstrates that his engagement with primary sources and comparative analysis of philosophical texts contributed to a critical reconsideration of Eurocentric interpretations of Eastern philosophy and to the recognition of al-Farabi’s thought as an original and coherent philosophical system. The study also highlights Khairullaev’s role in the institutionalization of Farabi studies as an independent field of research, the establishment of a scholarly school, and the training of a new generation of philosophers and Oriental studies scholars. Particular consideration is given to the transformation of his scholarly and educational activities during the period of Uzbekistan’s independence, when the study of Eastern philosophical heritage acquired renewed significance in the context of national consciousness and cultural self-identification. It is concluded that Khairullaev’s legacy retains not only historical-philosophical but also contemporary methodological significance for the study of Central Asian intellectual traditions, East–West philosophical dialogue, and the formation of national philosophical self-consciousness.
